Many Thanks to all who host, develop and test this fantastic tool. It makes a huge difference for the likes of me searching for their first home.

Looks like there are still some id clashes with rentals and sales.
Don't know if you can do anything about it.

Here's a new one that has the problem.

Hi dloob,

Unfortunately there's not much I can do about the *past* incorrect changes, in this case

* 30 December 2008, seen as a rental (1 shared bedroom @ €350 monthly)
* 06 November 2009, seen as a sale (4 Bedrooms, 3 Bathrooms, Detached House @ €375,000)

However using 2.0.6.0+ you shouldn't see any new (ie after 30 October 2009) cases where a property swaps between rental and for sale on daft, but you will see historic changes (ie before 30 October 2009) where this happens.

Fixing it would involve
* trying to correct everyones local property-bee.sqlite database - could be fraught with danger if we get the code wrong and it deletes the wrong changes!
* trying to correct the server database - which is impossible as the data is encrypted, so I couldn't identify what to change!

On the plus side (wll sort of!) eventually the problem will disappear as old properties get taken off the market, and new properties appear.

Sorry I can't be more helpful!

Cheers

Thanks for the update - working great again when I search for properties on DAFT!!

Just one comment and I know you are probably working on it already - it is not working at all for me on the summary page in My Saved Ads.

This was really useful for me as I would generally save any ad from the areas that I am watching, and go into My Saved Ads every morning and just do one search on the webpage for the current date, which highlighted any "green" updates to me since the previous day. Now I need to search through multiple pages to see the updates or click into individual ads - still very useful but I find I'm not checking it every day anymore since it's requiring more work for me :(

But great work on the tool - have been following property prices for about 3 years and this tool is a godsend!

Yup, see Bug #148: Update daft rules - basically the Saved Ads page can contain any type of property (for sale/rental/commercial/shortterm etc) and my brain hurts when I think about the rules I need to write to get that page to work and be correct with data found on any other pages on daft. Perhaps I'll revisit it soon... meantime I've created Bug #166 so I don't forget about it.

As to searching more, yes I understand - tho if your working in the bee, its helping others - and similarly if others are searching more, then they are helping you, so its not all bad :D

Cheers

Perhaps the way ahead for the My Saved Ads is to limit coverage only to properties for sale, and exclude other categories. Searches for commercial properties are likely to return rather fewer results, and so not being able to access them this way is less of a handicap. Anyone tracking rentals is probably doing it fairly short term (i.e. present rental expiring soon, so need to look at whether to move or renew). While it can be interesting to discover properties that have stayed unlet for several months and with falling rents being asked, there is probably less need to track via saved ads. Maybe Daft users should run a poll on what would be an acceptable way ahead. I'd guess some coverage is going to be better than none, even if it means it isn't all-singing-and-dancing.

mod, when I wrote the above I thought the same thing - would just coverages of properties for sale be ok on this page?

Hi Beerhunter, sorry only seeing your response to my comment now, the For Sale properties are the main properties that I am looking at so it would be of huge benefit to get these on My Saved Ads - the To Rent are not as important for me anyway.
